What do I need to get started with reselling through auctions?

Step one is to obtain your Resale Permit, also known as a Sales and Use Tax permit. You will need this permit for the State you want products shipped to from suppliers. A Reseller Permit is required to register with B-Stock and similar auction platforms.

You do not need an LLC to start. You can register for your Resale Permit as an individual.

Some States require an EIN number to get a Resale Permit. You can get your EIN online from the IRS instantly. It's called an Employer Identification Number, but it doesn't mean you have employees. It's simply a taxpayer ID number.

Start with B-Stock suppliers like Costco, Target, Ace Hardware, and others. Here's the complete list of B-Stock suppliers.

GovDeals is also a great place to dive down the rabbit hole to look at opportunities.

How do I know if I’m overpaying for an auction lot?

Do the math before bidding:

Check manifests carefully
Research sold prices on eBay and Facebook Marketplace
Subtract shipping and fees

Never buy anything that you don't already know what you can sell it for.

How can I reduce high shipping costs from B-Stock/Costco?

Ship to a commercial address with a dock/forklift if possible
Remove “Residential + Liftgate” from shipping profile
Stay under 6 pallets for LTL shipments
Partner with local businesses for cheaper drop-offs

What platforms work best for reselling liquidation goods?

The place to sell depends on the product.

eBay, Poshmark, Whatnot, and Vestiaire are great marketplaces for selling smaller items.

Large items – focus on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and more local venues.

Don’t forget wholesale and dealer sales.

Can you sell pallet loads to other sellers?

Can you sell quantity to retailers? Local and beyond.

Open a liquidation pop-up or hold a parking lot sale. Find someone with a warehouse or parking lot you can use.

How do I stand out as a reseller?

Build credibility on social media (X, Instagram, LinkedIn)
Add value to customer purchases (recipes with grills, product demos, etc.)
Develop long-term relationships with buyers

What should I do if my shipment doesn’t match the manifest?

Read this before you do anything.

Remember that this is a problem-solving business and that the profits are in the averages over time.

How do I find commercial storage or warehouse space?

Some self-storage locations offer unloading of pallets.

Look for local listings, subleases, or partnerships with other businesses. Having forklift or dock access saves on shipping fees.

Can I sell large items out of my garage?

Yes. Many members are selling products from their garages.

Full truckloads cannot be delivered to residential addresses, so be sure you are bidding on Less Than a Truckload (LTL) auctions.

Pro Tip: Let your neighbors in on the deals - you want them on your side and not grumbling when trucks show up every week at your house.

How do I cancel my reseller mastermind subscription?

Log in to your Mastermind Community dashboard.
You’ll see your profile picture (or a blank avatar) at the top of the page.
Click on the small profile icon next to your profile picture (see image below). A dropdown menu will appear.
From the dropdown menu, click “Settings.” This will take you to your account settings page.
If you’re not already signed in, you’ll be redirected to the Log In page.
Enter your email address and password, then click “Log In.”
Once logged in, scroll down to the Billing or Subscriptions section in your settings.
Here, you’ll see your active subscriptions.
Select the Cancel button: Look for the “Cancel” button and click it.
If you have trouble with this, email [email protected] and we will manually cancel your subscription.
